April 1, 2010 is U.S. Census Day!

With less than a month before your U.S. Census form arrives in the mail, it is important that we all do our part to ensure a complete and accurate people count in Hawaii.  Many aspects of government are affected by the U.S. Census: the number of representatives allocated to states, federal funding to state and local governments for infrastructure and services, and funding priorities for different communities. More that $300 billion in federal funds are allocated based on the U.S. Census results each year.

In 2000 Hawaii was greatly underrepresented in the Census. With only 60% of households reporting, Hawaii lost out on an estimated $310 million in federal funding. Your participation is important and can help improve your community. For additional resources and information click here.
