Opaekaa Bridge Replacement - Island of Kauai ($8,000,000)
The project will replace the Opaekaa Bridge on the island of Kauai, a one-lane, historic bridge that has been downgraded to a maximum load of 3 tons
Opaekaa Road is one of only two routes along County roads connecting the Wailua Homesteads area with the Kapaa area. The replacement of the existing bridge will allow for better traffic circulation within the area. This project will provide construction jobs for various trades over the course of construction, which is anticipated to be 9-12 months. The total estimated cost of the project is $10,000,000.
