Maui Water Supply System, Maui, HI

The County of Maui is experiencing a water crisis.  The County’s recently completed study indicates a need for 300 million gallons of water storage in the Upcountry area of Maui.  This includes a combination of public and private potable and irrigation water supply infrastructure such as delivery systems, pump stations, and reservoirs.

The project would serve 9,100 general customers and over 700 agricultural customers. The project serves the core of Maui’s agricultural industry, which is a critical component of Maui’s overall economy. Water resources are critical to sustaining agriculture on Maui. The proposed location of the reservoir is in an elevated area that will reduce pumping costs for agricultural producers whose continued viability depends on this water supply system being built.

The authorization amount requested is $100,000,000, cost-shared between the U.S. Army Corps and the County of Maui.
